Where You Smoke with @WhereYouSmoke: The Nature-Friendly Weed Fiends Who Supersize Their Joints

Sure, rolling up XXXL doobies isn’t the most economical approach to smoking outdoors, but you only live once!

@WhereYouSmoke sprouted in a moment shared between a spliff and the great outdoors. Run by an anonymous artist who grew up in LA, the Instagram account and online platform celebrates cannabis lovers who like to light up alongside Mother Nature.

Each week, we’ve asked @WhereYouSmoke to share a few favorite Instagram uploads with MERRY JANE, and so far it’s been nothing but picturesque snaps and chill-ass stories to boot.

For this week’s edition of our photo column, we decided to spotlight tokers who like to supersize the joints they bring to the beach, the woods, and even the mountains. Sure, this isn’t the most economical approach to smoking outdoors, but hey — you only live once!

@WhereYouSmoke: Where was this photo taken?
@megannicoleharrod:
The photo was taken in Durango, CO behind our buddies house on a hog back. It took us a while to figure out how to get the joint lit (the torch we had didn't work) and keep it lit. It started with like five of us, then more people started mobbing up the hill. It ended up being like 10-15 people hitting this thing. Everyone got really stoned, and afterwards split up to go eat or whatever. The majority of the day was spent watching our friend roll this. It had over two ounces of weed in it!

Why did you have a giant J that day?
The massive J was rolled because it was 4/20!!! I can't take credit for rolling it, though. It was my friend Jeremy who rolled it, and that's actually his hand in the photo! I just took the photo and participated in the smoking part lol. There were about 10 people smoking it in the circle.

What do you enjoy about blazing al fresco?
My favorite part of getting high in nature is being able to explore and breathe fresh air. My favorite memory getting high in nature was when we smoked this joint on 4/20, or smoking up in some hammocks with my bestie in Fort Collins, CO.

@WhereYouSmoke: Where was this photo taken?
@newjerseyninja: This picture was taken outside my store @growhausma in anticipation for Extravaganja, a local freedom rally. Over 10,000 people were in attendance!

Do you always roll fatties like these guys here?
Usually
I prefer wax and edibles to flower. I roll joints when the mood strikes, so they're usually fat or artistic.

What was your best sesh in nature?
My best smoke in nature was hanging out on top of Knightville Dam overlooking the valley with @thecraftylittlewitch. I ride motorcycles, so finding cool spots in nature to burn is a hobby of mine. When I’m faded, I like to spend time with my plants. It helps me feel a deeper connection to them.

@WhereYouSmoke: Where was this photo taken?
@granny.goes.hard:
This photo is from a couple years ago when @dutchhustle and I were invited to a comedy/rap/smoke event in Tacoma, WA. We rolled up a few joints to smoke and a couple large ones to share and for the performers to use. It was a fun evening with good performances and several other talented joint and blunt rollers passing around their work.

Where’s a place you love to spark up?
My favorite/most epic place to smoke is sadly now being torn down. The Vance Creek Trestle was the 2nd tallest railroad bridge, built at 347 feet tall. The view is incredible and being a trestle makes the height even more intimidating. Several friends have overcome their fear of heights to join us for a few puffs. There's something about the combination of fear and a view that makes this a great place to smoke and reflect with friends.

What do you love about blazing in nature?
Beyond getting to enjoy the solitude and beauty, there's usually an adventure involved. A hike, a drive, a climb. It's a deeper, more involved experience, compared to your typical couch sesh.

Why do you like rolling fatties like the one pictured above?
I enjoy the excitement it brings people. Watching people take photos of themselves taking a big puff… and then the face they make afterwards when they see the giant cloud that escapes from their lungs — it’s too good.
