Attention spans are shorter these days and with the rise of modern technology we’re seeing information delivered to us at an alarming rate. It’s probably why we can’t focus on one particular thing at one given time but after you see this picture you’ll be glued to it for the next hour.
The picture is actually the whole Star Wars Episode IV story, and after just checking out the intro it had me glued to the screen following the story like I had just seen the movie the first time. The picture was designed by artist Martin Panchaud, who wanted to create something for the short attention spans of today’s internet junkies.
“(The) internet likes short stories and summaries, quickly understandable contents. With my work I aimed to create a contrast to that,” Panchaud says on his website.
Created on Adobe Illustrator CC this piece is reminiscent of old Chinese script rolls that had to be rolled out to read with Panchaud describing it as a stretch between ages, cultures, and technologies. While he could have chosen any story to illustrate, his childhood memory of Star Wars is what led him to creating the artwork.
“Star Wars series has had a heavy impact on pop culture and they continue to influence through generations. It is a modern form of mythology and the IV episode is where it all began,” said Panchaud.
Prepare yourself by burning a few before checking it out as you may be stuck looking at your screen for the next few hours.
