Stevie Wonder Equates Voting For Trump To Asking Him To Drive

The legendary musician may be blind, but he certainly sees the bigger picture when it comes to this election.

As the 2016 presidential election finally comes to a close (hopefully) later today, a number of famous celebrities and artists have come out to voice their views to fans before they headed out to their polling places. We’ve already seen gleaming endorsements for Hillary Clinton from famed rappers Snoop Dogg and Pusha T. Now, the Democratic nominee has just received another musically inclined supporter in legendary pianist Stevie Wonder.

After his performance at the Get Out The Vote concert for Hillary Clinton last Friday, the musical icon came out with a rational reasoning for why Donald Trump should never be handed the keys to the White House. According to Wonder, a vote for Trump is essentially like asking the blind musician to drive you during in the midst of an emergency,

“If you had an emergency situation and needed to go to the hospital, and you had to get there right away, would you want me driving your car?” he asked during the interview with Philly.com

The 66-year-old musician went on to slam Trump for his disparaging remarks towards women, Muslims, and Latinos, stating that he’d hate to live out the remaining years of his life “in a place of pessimism”. He also endorsed Clinton for her experience, her committed track record, and her upbringing that was influenced by love and respect for all people.

Clinton has also recently been on the campaign trail with Jay Z and Beyonce, two other major musicians who have come out to support the Democratic nominee. As for Trump, his celebrity endorsements seem to consist of an eclectic mix of individuals that include ex-NBA player Dennis Rodman and Stephen Baldwin. The Republican candidate was also expecting a vote from New England Patriots superstar quarterback Tom Brady, but his wife and professional model Giselle Bündchen quickly squashed that rumor earlier today

We shouldn’t necessarily let these celebrities decide how our own vote will lean, but for better or for worse, our celebrity-driven culture has a major impact on the general populous. In fact, one could argue that this celebrity worship is what got Donald Trump into this position in the first place. Nonetheless, when it comes choosing the direction that Stevie Wonder hopes the country will head, the legendary musician knows which way he’s turning the wheel
