Check Out Slightly Stoopid’s Entirely Bubble Hash-Pressed Single

Yes, the $6,000 12-inch is definitely smokable.

It’s no secret that So-Cal surf-rockers Slightly Stoopid enjoy a good puff every once in awhile. And with their new single aptly titled “Dabbington,” the band decided to ditch the e-nails and carb caps and pay homage to the days of bubble hash and vinyl records - in the stickiest, and priciest way possible.

The band has printed two 12-inch singles of “Dabbington” out of pure hash, creating a spinable, smokeable version of the band’s flowing instrumental track. Slightly Stoopid, and their management, Silverback Music, plan on pressing a third hash record that, according to Billboard, might end up at auction.

“It’s all about putting two old-school vintage mediums together,” Jon Phillips of Silverback Music told Billboard. “Vinyl is an old-school medium, and that’s how we feel about hashish, too.”

But if Philips thinks bubble hash is a relic of the past, he sure doesn’t show it. If they do end up printing three hash records, that will be $18,000 worth of bubble, with an additional $1,000 a piece for stamping and mastering. To continue the love affair with the sifted sticky stuff, Philips also plans to market a Slightly Stoopid branded bubble hash to dispensaries around California.

As far as music quality is concerned, the first two versions of the hash record were better suited for smoking than spinning, but produced a passable version of the track. The third record, set to be pressed sometime in the coming months, should have a slightly better sound, but still, it won’t be meant for daily plays.

“It’s not something you’re going to plop on your turntable over and over again,” Phillips said. “For now, this is an art piece.”
