Moby’s music career has spanned almost a quarter of a century since his self-titled debut in 1992, which is not something one can say about most artists currently releasing music. Today he announced his new album These Systems Are Failing, his first as Moby & The Void Pacific Choir as well as his first official release since 2013’s Innocents.
Armed with a clear manifesto for the These Systems Are Failing, Moby (already no stranger to activism) is attempting to inform on the problem of human excess. As the title suggests, the renown vegan’s goal is to examine how the systems we originally developed in order to survive have over time led to overindulgence, greed and destruction of our planet and natural resources on a massive scale.
Following the first single (with its’ graphic visual accompaniment) “Don’t Leave Me,” Moby has also shared a new song along with his album announcement, “Are You Lost In The World Like Me?” Musically, it is mostly upbeat new-wave sounding, with layers of swirling synths and electronic percussion carrying the vocals. The vibe is distinctly 80s’ with a twist of house, and what can only be described as “Mobyish.”
